The illustrated guide of fern and lycophytes from the municipality of Santa María (Boyaca, Colombia) is presented. In the region were found 183 species comprising 64 genera and 23 families. These plants are widely distributed throughout the municipality from humid, shady, and undisturbed placed until very disturbed open areas. The most diverse families are Polypodiaceae (16 genera, 36 species), Dryopteridaceae (10, 22) and Pteridaceae (8, 22), the remaining ones have less than 5 genera, 42% of families have only one genus. The most diverse genera are Thelypteris (15 spp.) and Asplenium (9 spp.). The remaining genera have less than 7 species, 46% of the genera are represented by one species. We selected 100 species comprising 55 genera and 20 families to be illustrated in the guide. The species were separated by division of the lamina, each one appears with a short description and photos to help identify it easily, and furthermore, it was also includes the worldwide, Colombian and regional distribution.
